John Gardner. Nato nel 1933 a Batavia, New York e morto a Susquehanna nel 1982. Definito dalla critica romanziere filosofico è uno scrittore di formazione medievalista. E’ autore di Grendel (1971), Dialoghi con Sunlight (1972), Luce d’ottobre (1976).
John Gardner ha insegnato lunghi anni scrittura creativa all’Oberlin College e alla Chico State College, avendo tra gli altri per allievo il grande scrittore Raymond Carver al quale certamente non peggiorò la naturale propensione alla narrativa.
