November 10, 2020 marked 25 years since the brutal murder of writer and environmentalist, Ken Saro-Wiwa and 8 of his colleagues. In this collection of 25 poems commemorating 25 years of the death of his kinsmen, Bura-Bari Nwilo draws inspiration from across diverse backgrounds. Ogoniland has been impoverished despite its rich oil reserve. Across the lines of the poems in his indegenous language of Khana in Ogoni, Bura-Bari tries to give tags and prays for quite a lot. Also translated into the English language by the poet, the project is a fine attempt at the beauty of arts in Khana and the English language. |
