According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV), over 10 million Americans are physically abused every year (NCADV, 2017). This breaks down to approximately 20 Americans per minute. Unfortunately, women are victims of a disproportionate amount of the violence. The methods and techniques in this book are designed to help a woman stop the violence and not be a victim. To reach this goal, this book offers basic self-defense techniques that can be utilized by women of any age, size, or shape. As any woman is a potential victim, every woman should be trained to defend herself. The assailants that attack women do it for one of two reasons. The first reason is that they think they can. The second reason is that the victim represents an opportunity. This opportunity is to subjugate and degrade others in order to feel better about themselves. This is unacceptable. It is an unfortunate truth that we cannot save everybody. However, the goal of this book, the in person Women?s Self-Defense Seminar, and the Hoshin Dojo is to pass on the knowledge and tools required for a woman to save herself. Once she is no longer a victim, the assailant will likely move on to a softer target. However, as this knowledge and training reaches more women, there will be fewer targets. It is our goal that one day, there will be no targets for assailants to victimize. |
